Winter vacation ideas for our family? read details…?
Ok. I'm now pulling at straws. Help if you can. I'm looking for vacation/long weekend ideas for our family this winter (sometime between January and April). I'm pregnant and our daughter will be one year old at the end of January. We live in Arizona, so we don't need something "warm" because we're in one of the warmest spots in the country. We want to relax, yet have tons to do around us. We don't want to fly any further than Illinois or so. Any good destination ideas? Amusement parks (i.e. Disney Land) are out because our daughter is a bit young and I am preggo, so we won't be able to go on any rides. We thought of San Diego, but we were just there. HELP!
Thanks
Oh, and even though we can fly somewhere, it would be great if we can get somewhere within an 8 hour drive or so. We're thinking leaving on a Friday am and coming home on a Monday. Depending on the place, we may leave or come back a day later.

I would take everyone to Iraq.

What about a few days in Washington DC? Tons to do–museums, shopping, dining, etc. How about San Francisco? Again, lots to do. And Chicago is an awesome city-always lots going on!! Good Luck!
Honestly, I think that your 1 yr old won't remember what you do. You should put the money away for this vacation and let it mature, then take both kids on a great vacation when they are 5 or 6 yrs old.
If you don't like this option, then go to a great city nearby with several options for tourists like Denver, Salt Lake City or San Francisco.
